Overview
Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Seasonal Agricultural Worker for the Department of Plant Biology. The seasonal worker will report to Cristi L Palmer (Sr. Research Scientist) to establish and maintain research plots in greenhouses or hoophouses and collect data after applications of fungicides or insecticides.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Transplants plugs and young plants into larger pots and establish research plots.
• Responsible for applications of pesticides.
• Collects data on plant quality and enters data into excel spreadsheets.
• Documents environmental conditions and activities related to research plots.
• Prepares first draft of research report.
• Maintains and cleans up research areas (covered and uncovered hoop houses).

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Requires a high school/vocational school education or equivalent experience’.

Certifications/Licenses

• Will be required to possess and/or obtain a valid NJ DEP Pesticide Applicator’s License (Category 1A or 3B).

Preferred Qualifications

• Farmer or grower background with pesticide applicator license preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic knowledge of MS Excel and Word.

• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outside.

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
